Driving by the desire, I have been making unrelenting efforts. Majoring in Public Finance at the XX University of Finance and Economics, one of the best Chinese universities distinguished in economics and management located in XX, I have equipped myself with solid theoretical expertise as well as sharp professional skills. Through courses related to quantitative analysis such as Statistics and Econometrics, I have developed a more scientific and objective view of the world.
Owing to my outstanding academic performance, particularly eminent English and statistic skills, I was fortunately selected to go to the University of XX for the Summer Program of Inter-university Consortium for XX Research. XX XX The month I spent in XX not only enabled me to appreciate the culture and atmosphere of independence and freedom on the American campus, but also made me more confident to study and live in a pure English-speaking environment, as I gained abundant experience in communication with professors and students from all around the world. Furthermore, the workshop and courses of the summer program consolidated my understanding of statistical research. For instance, the workshop XXX firstly reconstructed my knowledge structure of all fundamental principles in statistical analysis. Moreover, it greatly improved my proficiency in applying quantitative methods to research through two challenging assignments.
While busy with academic studies, I grabbed every opportunity to hone other skills, in an effort to develop myself in an all-round way. Since entering the university, I have joined the XX of my school. From an ordinary member to the president, I have become much more mature and sophisticated to be both a participant and a leader. Beginning as a member only, paperwork such as gathering accounts from each department and writing news reports for the school website rendered me more efficient in arrangement and execution. Then I progressed as a successful event organizer. In the first event I organized, a XX design contest, for example, I played multiple roles, including designing the event, offering participants advice, and hosting the final show. After I was elected as president, I reorganized the union structure and redefined the functions of each department. To improve working efficiency, I built a communication system based on social networks which covered the whole student union. Through this channel, I gathered a lot of feedbacks from others and developed a more concrete understanding of leadership.
Outside campus, in order to prepare myself for a professional career in the finance industry, I took a part-time internship at the Bank of XX. As an intern in the XX department, which is specialized in XX services, I firstly took part in a training session about the banking business process of exporting and importing, including interpretation of Chinese new foreign exchange control policies. Then I linked knowledge with practice by checking and arranging a huge number of international trade documents such as trading invoices and sales contracts. Through this internship, my determination to engage myself in finance in future was strengthened. Meanwhile, however, I also woke up to my deficiency in professional knowledge, so I aspire to pursue advanced studies. in a region with a sophisticated financial market.

After careful comparison, I believe the Master of Finance programme at the University of XX is the most ideal choice for me, not only because XX is the top university in Hong Kong, one of the most important centres of global finance, but also for its unique characteristics and flexible curriculum. I am highly interested in the financial engineering stream of the programme for the reason that it will enable me to reinforce my quantitative skills in financial analysis through Asset Pricing Models and Option Pricing Models, and courses such as Financial Statement Analysis will arm me with indispensable tools in fundamental analysis of companies.
After graduation, I have planned to start my career in the finance industry as a security analyst. Meanwhile, I will make preparations for the CPA examinations and strive to obtain the CPA certificates within the next three years. After accumulating rich experience and build a large network, I wish to, in the long term, to run a mutual fund as a fund manager. I do believe that pursuing a master’s degree in finance at XXX would boost my competitiveness and adaptability in the employment market, and lead me to make my own achievements in the finance industry.
