I help Chinese people understand the American system. Too often Chinese focus on grades and test scores. However, the USA University system is much more complex than a “ranking system of testing statistics”. It is important to understand how to beat the USA system. It is more important for the Chinese to realize that life starts at college, it doesn’t end at college. Thus, the place where you go MUST not only be good for your career, but it also must fit your personality, your passion for education, and must set you up for after college is over. This can be achieved at many top 100 universities across the USA. My passion is in communicating the secrets of this underlying message. Preparing people right now, for the next 2-6 years. I have been doing this part-time in Beijing and Shenzhen for over 7 years and have had numerous success stories from it. Before deciding to come to China, I attended business school at U Chicago Booth from 2006 to 2008. Prior to that I was a securities trader from 2003-2006 on the Chicago Stock Exchange. The world of finance is very exciting. I found passions in stocks, writing, and research.
I have been writing, not only for economic magazines and online sources for 7 years, but have also been helping students get into their target schools, and sometimes get into their “Reach” schools. A reach school is like a dream school. Students are not expected to get in, but sometimes with a proper message and communication path, they can achieve admission. I can provide many examples of my work; these examples are extremely polished, and often involved completely re-writing the essay, or admissions statement. Furthermore, I was on the University of Chicago board of admissions as an admissions officer for 1.5 years. I saw many essays and know what it takes to get into graduate school from a communications standpoint.
Everyone wants to go to Harvard or Stanford. However, these schools usually take between 1-5 Chinese students per year. I am able to better fit the students into a school that will prepare them for life “AFTER” college. Because college is not the end, it’s the beginning. The grades you get in college will set you up for what waits after college. Usually, whether you attend Harvard or Colorado State, the class curriculum will be very similar. However, the competition will not be. If a student gets straight A’s from Illinois University, they are probably in a better position to go to Harvard Law, or Stanford Business School, than if they got B’s from Harvard Undergrad. My point is, get into a good fitting college, and set yourself up for the future that lies afterward.
