My specialties are editing translations from Chinese to English, editing academic papers in any of the humanities (not science) written by Chinese speakers, and editing essays and other types of writing by Chinese speakers.
I first went to China in 1986 when I was a graduate student at the Monterey Institute of International Studies. I taught English in Changsha, Hunan Province for one year, thenI went to Taiwan to study Chinese and teach English. In 1999 I completed my Ph.D. in Translation Studies in Hong Kong, focusing on the translation of popular Hong Kong fiction. Having studied Chinese for many years, I then worked as a translator and editor in Hong Kong and in the US for six years. In 2005, I returned to Hong Kong and worked as a university professor for nine years, teaching Chinese-English translation. I wrote numerous academic papers published in academic journals, and also edited academic papers written by others. I advised students on their further studies and wrote recommendation letters for them. Now, I am living in the US in order to be near my family and am working part-time for the Beijing Municipal Government’s magazine entitled Beijing. They send me work by email and I return the edited work by email by their deadline (usually within 2-3 days). I would now like to do editing work that I really good at .
